Being a Baseball Coach is more than just teaching the game of baseball.

Coaches are volunteers who have a son playing OYAA Baseball. Each team has a head coach and up to one assistant.

Watch for info on 2018 coaching clinics. In the meantime, here's a link to a great series of podcasts presented by the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association):

All 2018 coaches are REQUIRED to complete the below course and provide proof by submitting your completion certificate.

ONLINE TRAINING:  Go to and register yourself. Sign up for one of the two options: 1) basic ($15.96 w/discount), or 2) advanced ($19.96 w/discount). Enter code "OYAA" during checkout and get a 20% discount. I have completed the training and found it to be very beneficial. This is necessary training in order to keep improving the product we are offering our children.

The training was created by a company called Human Kinetics in partnership with Babe Ruth League. Human Kinetics have many books out on the market to help you become a better coach. Ripken Baseball has many training videos for sale and for free on YouTube. Our young ball players are only going to get out of their training what we as parents and volunteer coaches are willing to put into it. The completely online training will take approximately 6 hours for the basic course and approximately 8 hours for the advanced course. After completion of the course and passing the end of course exam, you will receive a certificate which is good for your lifetime.

Parents, don't be afraid to ask your child's coaches if they've completed the training.
