Our Mission , Philosophy, Goals
As a non-profit organization founded in 1985 principally for the southern Delaware County
Ohio townships and villages of Berlin, Genoa, Lewis Center, Liberty, Orange, and Powell;
OYAA is dedicated to youth development and community service by providing varied
opportunities and experiences in youth sports.
Founded on the belief that participation in youth sports nurtures the development of
essential personal qualities, OYAA offer recreational baseball, basketball, football,
soccer, and softball programs as well as more competitive travel baseball, travel
softball, and select soccer programs.
There are five truths that form the core of OYAA Philosophy:
- Participation in youth sports nurtures the development of personal,
physical and emotional growth.
- It is the responsibility of this organization to encourage participation
in youth sports to develop these qualities.
- Development should occur in an emotionally positive learning environment.
- The physical environment provided for OYAA activities should be as safe
as possible for the sport.
- Every youth should have the ability to participate in athletic activities
regardless of skill level.

Through these programs, OYAA strives to offer our youth enjoyable growth opportunities and
experiences designed to build physical fitness, self-esteem, personal commitment,
perseverance, sportsmanship, teamwork and emotional stability - all qualities that will
assist our youth to become responsible and productive adults.
Delivering a rich and varied sports environment for our children is our primary goal. OYAA
strives to provide quality sports programs targeted to the ages and capabilities of the
participants. Youth sports programs should also be fun for the participants. The
organization seeks continuous improvements in developing, promoting and administering
enjoyable youth sports opportunities for our community.
