OYAA Select Soccer follows MOSSL rules. Coaches are required to read and learn MOSSL rules and players are encouraged to read and understand them also. These rules cover everything from who is eligible (to play, coach, referee), to costs, schedules, locations, try-outs, recruiting and travel policy. MOSSL ( http://www.columbussoccer.com ) is a part of the Ohio South Youth Soccer Association ( OSYSA ). It is important to also note that OSYSA ( http://www.osysa.com ) is the governing body for this region of the country. OYAA is a proud member of both organizations.

Two important points need to be mentioned here.

  Recruiting;

Recruiting of the other team's player is strictly forbidden, and the conduct of players, coaches and parents of every team is monitored by the league. The rules forbid the recruiting of "carded players" from any team by the coaches, players or parent(s) of any other team. The penalty for violation is severe -- OYAA recommends that anyone in doubt should contact a head coach or the select commission for clarification.

Conduct;

Players, coaches, parents and spectators, are encouraged to remember why we are involved in the first place. Good Sportsmanship and conduct are a requirement. Receipt of a Yellow (warning) or Red (ejection) card from the referees penalize the team. Coaches can also be carded for the conduct of the team's parents and spectators. OYAA would like to improve its good record in this respect; as an Association, we strive to receive no penalty cards during the a season.
