About the Program

The OYAA Fastpitch Softball program offers organized, recreational intramural play locally and more competitive play through Select Travel teams. Amateur Softball Association (ASA) rules are the basis in which individual and team skills are taught and games played. With incremental differences in the leagues, each step in the OYAA Fastpitch Softball program encourages player development, enjoyment of the game and advancing skills for team play.

Intramural Leagues Back to Top

Intramural leagues are formed from Olentangy area youth. Prior softball experience is not generally required. The league's focus is on teaching fundamental softball skills and team building. Games are generally played during the week with an occasional Saturday game, when required. Practices begin at the end of April and the season ends in mid-July.

T-Ball (ages 4, 5 & 6)

This recreational-instructional league is designed for young, first-time players. Emphasis is more on instruction (individual and team) and less on the game setting. We have only had a separate girls T-Ball league for a few years, so we look forward to a great season, building on the previous year's success. Games are played through the week in evenings at either the Wyandot Run or Arrowhead Elementary girls softball fields. Fees: $75

Coach Pitch (ages 8 & under)

This league continues to develop fundamental skills necessary for successful game play. Ball handling, throwing, batting and base running are emphasized and developed. Beginning pitching techniques will also be taught. Games are played through the week in evenings at either the Wyandot Run or Arrowhead Elementary girls softball fields. (Click here for rules specific to this league.) Fees: $100

Kid/Coach Pitch (ages 10 & under)

While continuing to build fundamental skills, this league introduces additional concepts such as leading off, stealing a base and some game strategy. The pitcher/catcher relationship is introduced as players will pitch the first 4 pitches, with the coach pitching another 3 if required. Games are played through the week in evenings at either the Wyandot Run or Arrowhead Elementary girls softball fields. (Click here for rules specific to this league.) Fees: $100

Youth Pitch (ages 12 & under)

This recreational league builds upon the fundamentals of softball skills emphasizing batting and base running. Pitcher and catcher skills are more fully developed and the skills of bunting, leading-off, stealing and game strategizing are instructed and used. Regular season games are played through the week in the evenings at either the Wyandot Run or Arrowhead Elementary girls softball fields. (Click here for rules specific to this league.) Fees: $100
