Boys ages 5 thru 15
2022 season:
Ages 5 - 12 Registration opens February 1 & closes March 15.
Babe Ruth 13-15 registration will remain open until April 15. 

OYAA Baseball is a chartered Babe Ruth League for the AAA Minors, Majors, 13-15. That means our tournament teams play in a tournament trail starting with the Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken state tournament.

See your son's division for 2022 season dates.

2022 Babe Ruth 13-15:  Games start after June 1, 2022. This is after middle school and freshmen baseball is over. The season ending tournament will be in mid-July.

All player ages are determined by the birth chart shown above. May 1 in any year shall be the deciding date.

Season of 2022:

Cal Ripken – Any player born prior to May 1, 2018 and on or after May 1, 2009 will be eligible for Cal Ripken Baseball League competition.
Any player that turns 4-years-old in the months of May, June, July and August of 2018 is eligible to participate in the Cal Ripken T-Ball Division

13-15 – Any player born prior to May 1, 2009 and on or after May 1, 2006 will be eligible for Babe Ruth 13-15 League competition.

16-18 – Any player born prior to May 1, 2006 and on or after January 1, 2003 will be eligible for Babe Ruth 16-18 League competition.
Any player eligible to participate in high school athletics will be eligible to participate in the Babe Ruth League 16-18 Division
(National Federation Rule).

Any player born in 2003, 2004 and 2005 is eligible for Babe Ruth Baseball 16-18 Division.
Players born in January, February, March, and April of 2006 must play in the 16-18 Division.

ge 9-12 teams are formed through a draft after the evaluations.

Teams for 6U T-ball and 8U Rookie are formed by school attendance areas as much as possible. Requests, though not guaranteed, are considered in team formation.

This is the introduction to baseball in a fun, safe, and supportive team environment. OYAA uses a combination coach pitch and hitting from a tee in 6U. Players are placed on a team by OYAA according to their schools. Teams can expect to play one weeknight (Monday or Wednesday) and one Saturday game per week. Fridays and Sundays are used strictly for makeup games.
- Equipment needed:  Baseball glove, helmet, USA Baseball Bat, molded cleats (soccer or football cleats are fine for this age), gray baseball pants.

  • Dates below are tentative based upon governmental guidelines & the health and safety of our children.
  • Registration opens 2/1/2022,
  • Practices start 4/18/2022.
  • Games start 5/22/22 (1st weekend games will be on a Sunday; remaining weekend games are on Saturdays). Games will not be played Memorial Day weekend.
  • Fridays and Sundays are generally reserved for make-up games.
  • 1 weekday game (Monday or Wednesday) and 1 Saturday game over 6 playing weeks for up to 14 total games.
  • The T-ball season will conclude by June 30, 2022

Coaches will continue teaching the fundamental skills necessary for further development of the young ballplayer. Players are placed on a team by OYAA according to their schools. Teams can expect to play one weeknight (Tuesday or Thursday) and one Saturday game per week. Fridays and Sundays are used generally for makeup games.
- Equipment needed:  - Equipment needed:  Baseball glove, helmet, USA Baseball Bat, molded cleats (soccer or football cleats are fine for this age), baseball pants (color determined by coach).

  • Registration opens 2/1/2022 & closes 3/15/22
  • Practices start 4/18/2022
  • Games start 5/22/2022 (1st weekend games will be on a Sunday; remaining weekend games are on Saturdays). Games will not be played Memorial Day weekend.

  • The end of season tournament will be played Saturday, June 25 & 26, 2022.
  • The All-star doubleheader will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 with the make-up date as Sunday, July 10, 2022. All-star players will practice the week of June 27 & July 5 with no practices July 1 - 4.
  • In the month of July, we may offer players the opportunity to play in up to 2 rec all-star tournaments for the 8U Lobos tournament team(s).


10U Minors -

Players in 10U Minors are chosen to teams through a draft

The 10U Minors affords those players whose baseball skill sets develop at a different pace the opportunity to enhance their skills and to fall in love with the game. This will be competitive because players with comparable skill sets will be playing against one another. The focus is to introduce strategy and team play with further refinement of the fundamental skills of baseball. Played on 65' bases and 46' mounds. Teams can expect to play one weeknight and one Saturday game per week. Plan on up to three doubleheaders. Fridays and Sundays are used strictly for makeup games. 

- - Equipment needed:  Baseball glove, helmet, USA Baseball Bat, molded baseball cleats, baseball pants, socks & belt (color determined by coach), and protective cup.

  • Registration opens 2/1/2022 and closes 3/15/22.
  • Evaluations will be April 6, 2022 at 6 PM at Scioto Ridge Elem School & April 7, 2022 at 6 PM at Scioto Ridge Elem School.
  • Practices start around 4/18/2022.
  • Games start prior to 5/22/2022
  • Fridays and Sundays are generally reserved for make-up games.
  • 1 weekday game and 1 Saturday game over 6 weeks with up to three doubleheaders - up to 16 total games.
  • The last scheduled game will be June 23, 2022
  • The end of season tournament will start June 25, 2022 with the championship game played on July 1 or July 2, 2022.
  • The 10U Minors All-star game is tentatively scheduled for July 14, 2022.


10U Minors will have a 9U and a 10U or a combined 9 & 10 year old team that will be called the OYAA Lobos Tournament Team. The Lobos will participate in the Cal Ripken tournament trail and/or the possibility of three area out of league tournaments. The Lobos Tournament Team will be picked by the coaches and comprised of the top 12 players in both age groups or a combined 9&10 team. There will be a separate fee for players chosen to the Lobos Tournament Teams to cover the expense of their uniform and any tournament entry fees. For any player chosen to the Lobos Tournament Team, there will be a mandatory parents meeting to discuss what is involved in the special distinction their ballplayer has earned. These games will be played after July 4. Regional and World Series qualifying teams require out of state travel.


12U Cal Ripken Majors

Players in the Majors Division are chosen to teams through a draft. Players are expected to attend one of the evaluation sessions.
This division plays on 70' bases and 50' mounds. The players in this age group really start to understand the game and it shows on the field with fun, competitive, quality (most the time) baseball. 


- Equipment needed:  Baseball glove, helmet, USA Baseball Bat, molded baseball cleats, baseball pants, socks & belt (color determined by coach), and protective cup.

  • Registration opens 2/1/2022.
  • Evaluations will be right after spring break.
    • Session 1:  April 7, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Shanahan MS Diamond 2 (behind MS football field). Arrive early to check in and be ready by 6.
    • Session 2:  April 9, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Shanahan MS Diamond 2 (behind MS football field). Arrive early to check in and be ready by 6.
      Rainout Session: April 10, 2022 at 12 PM at Shanahan MS Diamond 2 (behind MS football field).
  • Practices start week of 4/11/2022.
  • Games start week the week of 5/9/2022.
  • Fridays and Sundays are generally reserved for make-up games.
  • 1 weekday game and 1 Saturday game over 6 weeks with up to three doubleheaders.
  • The last scheduled game will around of June 23, 2022.
  • The end of season tournament will start June 25, 2022.
  • The championship game will be determined based on the number of teams in the league.
  • The 12U Majors All-star game is tentatively schedule for July 14, 2022.

FOR 2022, ALL STAR TEAMS WILL BE FORMED IN THE ROOKIES, AA MINORS, AAA MINORS, AND MAJORS DIVISIONS. THE OYAA LOBOS TOURNAMENT TEAMS WILL BE FORMED IN THE 10U MINORS, AND 12U MAJORS AGE GROUPS. THE LOBOS TOURNAMENT TEAMS WILL PLAY IN THE CAL RIPKEN STATE TOURNAMENT AND IN ONE OR MORE LOCAL REC BASEBALL TOURNAMENTS IN THE MONTH OF JULY. IF YOUR BASEBALL PLAYER IS CHOSEN FOR THE TOURNAMENT TEAM, THERE WILL BE A SEPARATE FEE INVOLVED WHICH WILL INCLUDE A UNIQUE JERSEY AND HAT.


Babe Ruth 13-15 -
Registration for Babe Ruth Division open February 1, 2022 and is open until April 15, 2022

Registration is open to anyone that turns 15 on or before May 1, 2022 (see age chart). This could be some sophomores, all freshmen, 8th graders, and 7th graders. Travel ball players are welcome to play. You get to play with and against your OLSD classmates and other area friends. If you love baseball and you are the right age, we want you playing Babe Ruth baseball. Who knows who is going to be the next late bloomer? Our first game will be after June 1. The last game will be in mid-July.
There will be up to 16 games scheduled with two to three games per week with an end of season league tournament. We try to schedule all games between Sunday and Thursday. This does allow travel ball players to participate in the league.

We try to have separate 13U, 14U & 15U Tournament Team(s) called OYAA Lobos that will participate in the Babe Ruth tournament trail. The Lobos Tournament Team will be comprised of the 12-14 top players as chosen by the coaches. There is the possibility of having separate 13U, 14U & 15U teams. There will be a fee for players chosen to the Lobos Tournament Teams to cover the expense of their uniform and any tournament entry fees. For any player chosen to the Lobos Tournament Team, there will be a mandatory player and parents meeting to discuss what is involved in the special distinction their ballplayer has earned. These games will be played after July 4. Regional and World Series qualifying teams require out of state travel.

OYAA Rec Baseball has priority at Scioto Ridge fields #2 & #3, Freedom Trail, Shanahan MS #2, Liberty MS Baseball Diamond, Alum Creek Elem and Liberty Park fields 3 & 4.
